Find Frio Civil Dockets

A Frio County civil docket search starts with the office that holds the file. The District Clerk keeps district civil cases, while the County Clerk and the justice courts hold the rest. Pick your court level first. The civil court docket lists hearings, filing dates, setting reasons, and counsel, though it will not show every pleading or final order. Have a cause number ready to confirm the match. Small claims and eviction cases belong with the correct Justice Court, not the district clerk.

Searching Frio County Civil Dockets

The 81st and 218th District Court archive posts Frio civil appear dockets. It posts them one week at a time. Pick your week, open the Frio civil PDF, and search it by cause number or exact case style. This route works date-first. There is no public name box that spans every week. The County Court docket index runs chronologically too, but it covers a separate court layer.

Need one search across records instead? re:SearchTX offers Cases, Filings, Text in Documents, and Hearings modes where records are available. Even so, portal results are no substitute for confirming details with the local clerk.

  1. Decide whether the matter is district, county, justice, municipal, or federal.
  2. Gather the cause number, style, filing year, and likely setting date.
  3. Open the matching weekly or county PDF and read its header.
  4. Use PDF find, then compare the case type and attorney roles.
  5. Ask the record custodian for the filed document or certified order.

Inside the Frio Civil PDF

A district civil appear docket sheet for Frio County lists the heading, setting date, docket number, case style, time, filed date, case type, reason set, setting comment, and attorney roles. Civil cause numbers often look like YY-MM-#####CVF. That string is only a format example. Treat the weekly sheet as a calendar snapshot, nothing more.

The official weekly Frio post shows the civil sheet sitting beside separate criminal files. Docket types stay apart in the publication. No combined register of every Frio County civil filing comes out of it.

Inside a Frio Civil Docket

Blank fields and abbreviations are normal. A blank Reason Set does not mean the clerk's file lacks a motion or notice. The setting comment usually adds context, but it records schedule work, not a judge's decision.

Docket numberThe cause identifier used to request the underlying civil file.
StyleThe shortened caption for the parties.
Filed dateWhen the matter entered that court's record.
Case typeA local category such as tax, title, family, or contract.
Reason setThe listed purpose for the appearance, when supplied.
Setting commentLocal scheduling detail, which may note a reset or remote setting.
Attorney roleCounsel or self-represented status shown for that setting.

Petitions, service returns, motions, exhibits, and signed orders can all live in the full file. The PDF simply never shows them.

Frio Civil Docket Language

Frio civil setting comments cover a wide range. You will see summary-judgment settings, Zoom status hearings, final hearings, mediation, motions to compel, bench-trial blocks, and DWOP status conferences. DWOP stands for dismissal for want of prosecution. Seeing it listed names the docket purpose only, not proof that dismissal was entered. A settlement-document comment likewise means paperwork is pending, not that judgment is final.

PRO SE
A party appears without an attorney; it is a representation status.
Plt Atty
Counsel listed for a plaintiff at the setting.
Def Atty
Counsel listed for a defendant at the setting.
Ad Litem
An appointed representative for a defined interest or person.
DWOP
A dismissal-for-want-of-prosecution setting that still requires the controlling order.

A Zoom note means the hearing is planned as remote. It says nothing about a recording or any public video link.

Civil Case Types on the Docket

The Frio County civil sample shows how wide a district calendar can run. Labels include Tax Delinquency, Other Civil, Trespass to Try Title, Tax Appraisal, Divorce with Children, and Debt/Contract involving fraud or misrepresentation. Each one is just a docket category. Reading more into a party or the merits would go beyond what the label says.

Local labelWhat it signalsWhat to verify
Tax DelinquencyA tax-related civil trackPleadings and current order
Trespass to Try TitleA Texas title actionProperty and judgment documents
Tax AppraisalAn appraisal dispute categoryPetition and setting notice
Divorce with ChildrenA family case labelPublic-access limits
Debt/ContractA contract-related civil categoryClaims and disposition in the file

County civil, probate, small-claims, and eviction work can sit outside this district list.

Frio Filing Path and Docket

eFileTexas is the channel for electronic filing. The public docket is a scheduling publication, not the file itself. A filing goes to the District Clerk. It gets a file stamp, joins the proper case record, and may later earn a docket setting. Access still depends on the record and any restrictions. E-filing through eFileTexas does not make every attached document public.

Civil path: Filing › Clerk acceptance › Service or response › Setting › Hearing or trial › Signed order

The regional district court points to one place for answers: the county District Clerk. That office knows the status of e-filed documents and keeps the record. Ask it about acceptance, copies, or order status.

Frio Civil Settings and Hearings

Each setting type has its own job. A status conference manages the case. A summary-judgment hearing takes up a motion. Mediation is a resolution process, and a bench-trial block is a non-jury trial setting. None of these is a final outcome just because it appears on a Frio County docket. Check the latest setting and the signed order.

Resets happen all the time. A comment that a status hearing moved from an earlier date decides nothing about the merits. For non-jury district settings, the regional request-setting instructions require the listed procedure and confirmation. Jury-trial requests involve agreed dates plus a Docket Control Order. Parties should rely on their notice and the court, not a stale PDF.

Small Claims Use Frio JPs

Small claims and evictions belong with the proper Justice Court. They do not go automatically to the District Clerk. Frio County has four precinct Justice Courts. Each has its own judge, address, phone, and records. The county Justice Court page is where routing starts. Its official small-claims packet supplies court contacts and fee details.

Routing check: Identify the precinct before requesting a small-claims docket or copy. A district civil PDF will not function as an index to all four Justice Court files.

The local packet breaks out separate copy, jury, writ, and filing items. Fees do not travel between offices. Verify the current total with the precinct, since a District Clerk or County Clerk fee never transfers to a JP case.

Frio Civil Fee Boundaries

The District Clerk's 2024 schedule listed a $350 base for new civil and family cases, with service or specialized process possibly added on. The County Clerk schedule listed a $215 original county civil petition on its own. Those figures belong to different courts and cannot be swapped. Get current totals from whichever office accepts the filing.

These numbers are filing references, not prices for every copy. Ask whether your record should be plain or certified, and which clerk holds it.

Civil Docket Access Rules

Texas Rule of Civil Procedure 76a starts from the premise that court records are open. A sealing order can change that. So can another confidentiality law. Family cases are a good example, since they may hold details about a child, a home address, or a protective order. So keep expectations in line. An open Frio County court docket line shows what happened on the record, not every exhibit or personal value behind it.

Access framework:

Texas Rule of Civil Procedure 76a provides the civil court-record sealing framework.

Texas judicial records policy explains why Rule 12 administrative records and case records follow different channels.

Texas Government Code Chapter 552 supplies the broader public-information framework while treating judiciary information separately.

For Frio County district civil cases, the District Clerk is the office to contact. Cases filed in a lower court go through the County Clerk or the right justice of the peace clerk instead. When you make a request, include the cause number, the document name, the date, how you want it delivered, and whether you need a certified copy. If the search comes back empty, the reason could be a court's own choice, a narrow date range, a lag in publication, restricted access, or an identifier that has changed.
